Duran Duran - Burning The Ground (1988)

This is the official video for Burning The Ground which was released in December 1988. This megamix was Duran Duran's 20th single release (and the last one released in the eighties) and was created by the band themselves. It was released to promote the compilation album Decade: The Greatest Hits, and features snippets from all of Duran Duran's hit songs from the 80s. However, the mix did not feature on the album.

As well as snippets from their hit songs, also included in the mix were samples from the film Barbarella (The band obtained their name from Durand Durand, the name of a character in the film played by Milo O'Shea), along with many other sound effects from their own videos, such as the camera shutter sound in Girls On Film, and the stuttering vocal effects from The Reflex.

Dance music was becoming more popular at the end of the 80s, and so this dance mix was the perfect way for the band to see out the great decade. However, the mix wasn't a huge hit and peaked at #31 in the UK singles chart. It faired better in Italy reaching #7.
