Billy Idol - Don't Need A Gun (12" Meltdown Mix)

Don't Need A Gun reached #26 in the UK singles charts in 1987 and was lifted from Billy Idol's third full-length studio album Whiplash Smile. Other hit singles that featured on the album were To Be A Lover and Sweet Sixteen

The video above features the original 12 inch "Meltdown Mix" from the 80s. A second 12 inch version was released entitled "The Beyond Meltdown Mix" which featured the same picture of Billy Idol as on the cover of the "Meltdown Mix" 12", but in addition there was a round pink "Beyond Meltdown" label and the B-side featured an instrumental mix of Don't Need A Gun called Dub Need A Gun.

The British rock musician had eight Top 40 singles in both the UK and the U.S. during the 1980s, although these weren't all the same songs that were hits in both countries. Billy Idol reached his peak in 1985 when re-releases of Rebel Yell and White Wedding both reached #6 in the UK singles chart. Idol was particularly successful in Canada where his first four studio albums all achieved at least Platinum. Rebel Yell was his most successful album achieving 5x Platinum in Canada and 2x Platinum in the U.S., although in the UK it only made Silver.
