The Supremes - Stop In The Name Of Love - 80s Mix

Stop in the name of love vinyl single sleeve

Okay, this isn't strictly an 80s tune, although Diana Ross did release her own solo version in 1989. But this remix by Matt Pop has a distinctive 80s sound which I love! It kind of sounds like a combination of an old Pet Shop Boys 12 inch mix and a PWL style tune.

The original Motown song was released in February 1965 and reached #1 in the U.S. and #7 in the UK. It has been covered by numerous artists including Gene Pitney (he also sang on the 1989 smash hit Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart with Marc Almond) and 80s pop sensation Sinitta - did I say sensation? I was lying!
